In January, we enjoyed the best weather ever; only one snowstorm and many, many days of temperatures in the 40s and 50s. If Pittsburgh was like this every year, we may not ever leave. Haha.
We are calling this the "high five as you pass by" semester. Sam and I literally only see each other long enough to "high five" as we switch watching the kids while the other one heads to a meeting, class, the store, church, etc. Sam has evening classes on Mondays and Thursdays, Young Men's on Wednesday, and helps with the Ward Missionary program on Tuesday nights. But ever the supportive husband, he watches the kids after school on Tuesdays so I can go teach piano lessons. He continues to work very hard on his research, papers, homework and other assignments for his advisor and is auditing a class so he call teach it over the summer (his first opportunity to teach!)
I feel that I have so much on my plate, that I am amazed I am still sane. Maybe I'm not, who knows. Monthly Relief Society meetings to plan, four boys to tend, newsletters to write, fundraisers to support, piano lessons to prepare and give and more. But I really love it! I added two more piano students this month and am looking forward to a scrapbooking/stamping getaway at the end of the month. I am finally off my medication (BIG YEAH!) and have started working again to get back on the right track to better health and weight. I also gave a talk in Sacrament meeting on 'Increasing Faith' which I had to completely wing-it, because in the morning confusion I had left my talk on my desk.
Tiger started swimming lessons and Cub Scouts this month and just loves them both. He can now dive really well off the platforms and is working on swimming the entire length of the pool without stopping. Tiger recently did a school report on Benjamin Franklin and has been obsessed with the historical icon ever since. He deals with being the big brother really well and is very excited to be learning cursive writing in school.
Toad has really grown up these past months. He has begun reading small words, writing his full name and asking a million questions. He is also taking swimming lessons and does the biggest jumps and the biggest splashes he can. He sometimes gets tired of going to school, but those thoughts quickly vanish when he gets there. He gave a wonderful talk in Primary on agency, but his biggest joy and talent these days is his lego creations. The kid can build some amazing planes and spaceships!
Turtle is one busy boy. He is rolling all over, starting to eat solids and very small chunks of food. He can push himself backwards in his walker and is just about to be able to sit up by himself. Teeth might be soon coming, because he is a little tempermental these days. We love his jabbering and does the cutest thing that kind of resembles hiccups, but on purpose. At his 6 month appointment he still hadn't topped 15 pounds, but we are all okay with that.
Planning our upcoming vacations and the unseasonally warm weather has kept our spirits up. Now on to the month of love!
