March was a great month for us, with lots of beautiful weather, birthday celebrations, and new things to brag about. But as this semester has shown us, it has been far too crazy of a month.
Sam turned 32 this month! Happy Birthday to you! He is getting up there, hehe. Although he had work, homework, and Young Men's the day of his birthday, we were able to sneak in a little celebration with cupcakes and some new Star Wars movies before he had to take off yet again. The kids, who are little Star Wars freaks, insisted that we get Dad the first three episodes of the collection, so that is what we did. So, maybe the gift was a little more for them than for him. :) He was also treated with lots of College Hoops as he delved into the NCAA tourney like the fan that he is. It was fun to do tournament brackets again and watch all the fun games.
Denise kept up the housework, homework, and taxi service this month, but even had found time to prepare and perform a piano solo for Ward Conference. People would say she did a great job, but after fighting the stomach flu several days prior to the performance, she is just glad she kept it together enough to get through it. She also finally got called and sustained to be the primary pianist, even though she has been doing the "calling" for nearly two years as a favor.
Tiger earned his Bobcat award in Cub Scouts this month and is excited to begin building his car for Pinewood Derby. He also started Spring Soccer and remembers how fun it is. Last weekend was the first game of the season, and he scored the first goal! He also saved a bunch of goals as the goalie. He is one of the bigger kids now and it is fun to see him play. Tiger is currently doing a school project on the History of the Pittsburgh Steeler, so you know how excited about that he is!
Toad continues to amaze us on what he learns in his preschool class. A few days ago, he was talking about things being symmetrical. What?! You are 4, slow down will you? He also started soccer again and Sam says that during his first game, he spent more time ninja kicking the ball and falling down dead then really playing soccer. Oh well, we can't all be superstars, huh? It will be fun to watch him play again and he still loves having his dad be the coach!
Turtle had the biggest month of all of us! He turned 9 months, his army crawling and scooting turned into full-blown crawling, he sprouted two teeth, and finally learned to sit up and be balanced. Whoot, whoot little buddy! And thanks for making our home Fort Knox with security gates, daily vacuuming, and constant fishing out of the mouth your little objects of prey. He may not make it to his first birthday without a hair cut, because he is becoming one shagging little boy. But he loves to watch his older brothers and just lights up when they come home from school.
The madness that was March was really fun and things are going well. You can't say that about our maple tree in the backyard however as it met its demise this past week. After several weeks of huge branches falling off during wind storms, resulting in close encounters with our house and the neighbors, it was decided that it needed to go. We now will have a more open yard in the back and will have to be a little more creative as to how to shade the back deck. So long, ugly, dying maple tree.
Now we are in April and look forward to Spring Break, nice weather, family trips, and getting the yard back in shape. Happy Spring!
