One problem about writing a monthly newsletter, is that sometimes you forget all that happened last month because you are already smack dab in the middle of the next! Hmmm. Need to get better at recording the events of our busy lives.
The highlight of the month was traveling to Missouri to see Uncle Dave receive his Doctor of Physical Therapy at Southwestern Baptist University. Although sitting in the sun for 2 hours for the ceremony was less than fun, we had a blast playing with cousins, and visiting family. Thanks Lynn & Margene and congratulations Dave!
Sam was the big man this month as his first publication came out! He collaborated with 3 colleagues on the chapter, "" We were very excited about this accomplishment and Sam even signed a copy of the book for his parents. Sam also upgrade his commuter car and is not the owner of a 98 Honda Accord. He feels pretty lucky, and the kids love riding in the 'new' car! And as far as dissertation work goes, Sam has finished collecting data and has begun to write. Yahoo! Now comes a long mentally challenged year to finish it all up. Good luck and better you than us!
Denise spent a lot of time volunteering at Tiger's school with end of year activities and with much apprehension was elected the new PTO president of the school. Wow. How is she ever going to do this? Everyone says that you can always say no, but seeing how much help we got in parental involvement this past year, the pickings are slim and she does not want the school to go down hill. She also finished another round of piano lessons ending with a recital on the 1st of June. Her student load is up to 6 and might be growing still.
Tiger and Toad finished another soccer season, receiving trophies and attending a huge BBQ celebrating the season. We've decided to do it again next fall and spring. The league is a really good one, and we couldn't beat the exercise and fun the kids are having. They also finished another school year. Tiger will be moving on to 3rd grade and Toad will be in kindergarten. The best part is that they will be at the same school with the same hours and dismissal times. Yeah! Tiger also participated in a Memorial Day Flag ceremony with his Cub Scout troop.
Little man Turtle received his first haircut, is learning to climb the stairs and is quickly walking along the furniture. He loves to be outside, in the stroller or just playing with his brothers. He has a sixth sense when someone has left one of the safety gates open and flies through it before anyone has noticed. Turtle also has new routine of getting up way early, eating and then demanding to snuggle for at least 20-30 minutes. Sometimes it is nice, other times just annoying because we would rather be sleeping.
Summer is here and things are rolling pretty fast. Nothing beats having a neighbor with a pool, who claims, "when the umbrella is up, come on down!" The boys have been signed up for science camps, reading programs at the library, sports camps, and they have season passes to the local waterpark, so we should have lots of fun. Throw in some family camping, big trips out west, and lots of parks to visit, and we have a packed summer. Hope yours is a good one too.
